The ThruBottle 1000 is the second generation of CNOC's game-changing reusable water bottle for ultralight hikers and thru-hikers. It keeps everything that made the original work - the slim profile, the 28mm filter compatibility, the durable HDPE build - and fixes the two things people asked about most: weight and squeezability.

At just 63g, the ThruBottle 1000 sheds 30% of the original's weight while becoming significantly easier to squeeze through a filter. It's now assembled in the USA from US components, with embossed measurement lines that won't rub off and an updated pull tag.

What's new on V2 compared to the original ThruBottle (V1)

• 27g lighter - 63g instead of 90g, a 30% weight reduction
• Much easier to squeeze - a thinner, more compliant body means less effort when filtering or backflushing, while still holding its shape and standing upright when empty
• Embossed measurement lines - molded into the bottle instead of printed, so they can't rub off after months on trail

The Problem with Disposable Bottles

For years, ultralight hikers have relied on disposable Smartwater bottles because they're cheap, light, and work perfectly with squeeze filters. But there's a catch: they're single-use plastics being repurposed for long-term use, they bend and crinkle over time after repeated squeezing, and get covered in creases and dents after just weeks on trail. Care

Hand wash with mild biodegradable soap, warm water and a bottle brush, then air dry with the cap off. Denture-cleaning tablets work well for a deeper clean. Not intended for boiling water - repeated exposure above 80°C can deform the body, cap or threads.
